Todd Skrivseth, Monmouth College Men’s Basketball Head Coach

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Winning the Midwest Conference men’s basketball title outright has earned Monmouth College the league’s Coach of the Year and two all-conference selections, including the Player of the Year, in a vote of the conference’s coaches.

Todd Skrivseth was named the MWC’s Coach of the Year after guiding the Scots to an 18-7 record and winning the conference championship with a 15-3 mark, reversing a 6-17 campaign a year earlier. Entering the season ranked fifth in the conference coaches’ poll, Skrivseth’s team rolled down the stretch, winning 10 of their last 11 games, which included a regular season-ending seven-game win streak.

Named the Player of the Year, Will Jones (Evanston, Ill./Evanston) became a four-time all-conference selection, following Steve Glasgow (’02) and Pete Kovacs (’55) as the Scots’ only four-time all-league honorees. Monmouth’s all-time steals leader ranks No. 3 on the all-time scoring list with 1,432 points entering the weekend. He also is the Scots’ record-holder with 95 games played and ranks fourth in assists (313) and fifth in rebounds (660). In his final campaign, Jones is the Scots’ leader in assists (88) and steals (39). He’s second on the team in points (362/14.5 ppg) and rebounds (181/7.2 rpg). Jones became the Scots’ first Player of the Year since Lance Castle – Monmouth’s all-time scoring leader – was so honored in 1995.
A communication and public relations major, Jones is the son of Anthony and Nikki Jones.

Justin Aluya (Placentia, Calif./Valencia) earned his second consecutive all-conference award with a first-team selection. The two-year starter leads the team in scoring (383/15/3 ppg) and rebounds (234/9.4 rpg). Recording a program record-tying eight blocked shots in his final regular season game, Aluya is just three blocks away from tying the season record with 51 rejections heading into the weekend. The senior was also a two-time D3hoops.com Team of the Week selection.
A business major, Aluya is the son of Joseph and Bibianna Aluya.
