Rauner Reassures Republicans at Lincoln Day Dinner

The last annual budget address of Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner’s four-year term will come on Wednesday. Ahead of that important address, Rauner made an appearance in Monmouth last night for the Lincoln Day Dinner held at the American Legion. The core of Illinois’s problems according to Rauner is current Speaker of the House Mike Madigan.

“The key to restoring good values and prosperity in the state is beating Mike Madigan and his corrupt machine. And that’s what we’re going to do. That’s what we’re going to do,” Rauner stated.

Rauner accuses Madigan of pushing jobs out of Illinois, raising our taxes, not funding schools properly, and engaging in corruption. If re-elected for a second term, Rauner says he will focus on reversing the course of Madigan’s effect on the state:

“I just want our state strong, and proud, and great again. And to do that, we have to reduce the tax burden, we have to grow our economy, and we have to invest in our education so we have the best schools in America,” he said.

Wednesday’s budget address will air on both 1590 WAIK and 1330 WRAM at noon. To hear more from Rauner’s speech at the Lincoln Day Dinner, click on the link below:
