Sponsors Give Update on Chess Club

Share

The Chess Club at the ICS and Central Intermediate Schools have helped the younger generation represent the community in a positive way.

Audie Duran and Mitch Petersen, sponsors of the ICS and Central Intermediate Schools Chess Program, explained how far the club has come since its inception. Students have learned a new way of playing chess.

“They learned to play something called algebraic notation. They learned to use a timer to go with the regulation rules,” Duran stated.

Saturday mornings, starting March 3, Duran and Petersen will be hosting an introductory chess class at the Trinity Angelican Church. The class will start at 10 a.m., and is open to anybody from second grade on up.
