Elizabeth Varner with Galesburg Parks and Recreation highlighted some activities for young children and teenagers over the popular spring break period. There will be two opportunities for youngsters to see the Easter Bunny over spring break. On Friday, Mar. 23, the Hawthorne Gym and Pool will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m with the Easter Bunny showing up from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Varner then talked about the exciting easter egg hunt on Mar. 25:

“The easter egg hunt starts at 1 p.m. sharp. We have over 12,000 eggs. We have 100 prizes, and we have six grand prize bikes. And in conjunction with that, we also have an easter egg coloring contest going on,” she said.

For teens, Lake Storey will be the host site of a Jr. High Spring Break Dance on Friday, Mar. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. Varner says all area students from 6th through 8th grades are invited.

Harry Potter fans will also have a chance to compete in wizarding challenges at the Wizard Academy on Thursday, Mar. 29. Students ages 8 through 12 are invited to register for the Academy, which will run from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Hawthorne Gym and Pool.
