The Monmouth-Roseville Titan baseball team continued its great start to the season with its 3rd straight mercy-rule win. the Titans defeat the Sherrard Tigers 11-1, scoring four runs in the bottom of the 6th to put the end the game early. Monmouth-Roseville only led the game 2-0 heading to the bottom of the fourth inning and proceeded to push across five runs to take a 7-0 lead. Koby Killey’s 2-run single scored Jordan Cheek and JC Sells to highlight the frame. Sells and Rylan Heinrich also knocked in runs in the inning. Sherrard would score a run in the top of the 6th before Monmouth-Roseville ended the game with the outburst in the bottom half of the inning. Austin Johnson blasted a 2-run double and Jack Thompson finished it off with an rbi single that scored Johnson from second base. Jordan Cheek goes the distance on the mound, going all six innings while giving up only two hits with six strikeouts and allowing no walks. Monmouth-Roseville is now (4-0) on the season and continue their busy week with a home game against BPC/WP tonight at Sunny Lane Field. First pitch is set for 4:30.

The Galesburg Silver Streak baseball team lost a 9-1 ballgame to Metamora at Sundberg Field in Galesburg last night. Donnivan Reed led the Streaks at the plate with a pair of hits including a double and the lone rbi. Galesburg, now (2-1) on the season, were out-hit 8-5 by the Redbirds and will head to Canton tonight for a non-conference match up.

The Galesburg sophomores rallied late to beat ROWVA/Williamsfield 20-5 last night. Michael Bertlshofer got the pitching win for Galesburg, while also going 2-for-3 and driving in a pair of runs. Adam Stewart led the offense, going 3-for-5 with 3 rbis.

Princeville scored 8 runs in the bottom of the first inning against Knoxville and go on for an 11-7 win over the Blue Bullets. Cal Engebretson was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 rbis to lead Knoxville.

Also, it was Rockridge over Ridgewood 6-3 and Alleman beat Macomb 13-4.

Softball

The Galesburg Silver Streak softball team picked up their 2nd win of the season last night in Orion. The Streaks are now (2-3) on the season after a 9-7 win over the Chargers. Emily Blucker gets the pitching win, going all seven innings, giving up seven hits, five earned runs while striking out nine batters and issuing six walks. Lauryn Campbell and Alyssa Villareal each had home runs for Galesburg, with Campbell ending the night going 3-for-4 with 3 rbis. Galesburg will host the West Central Heat tonight at 4:30.

The Monmouth-Roseville lost to West Central 23-5 in Stronghurst. Chloe Russell blasted a home run and a double for Monmouth-Roseville and had four rbis. Cora Neal was also 2-for-3 for the Titans. West Central’s Mady Reed was 2-for-2 with a home run and five rbis, including a grand slam. Emily Johnson was 2-for-2 with four rbis. Megan McIntire had a pair of hits and also knocked in four runs.

The A-Town Tornadoes were shutout by Princeville 10-0, despite getting a 2-for-2 night from Emily Keller.

Also, it was Beardstown over BPC/WP in a shootout 20-11. Illini West beat Mercer County 7-1 and it was Alleman beating Macomb 6-2.

Cubs Open Regular Season Against Rangers
