Here’s your local high school Athletes of the Week for the week ending March 13th:

Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is freshman track and field athlete, Ryley Huston. In her first track meet of her high school career, all Ryley did was throw the shot put 33’2″ in the Illinois College Indoor Invitational. That toss was good enough for 6th place against mostly 3A competition.

Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is Red Storm junior boys track and field athlete, Joey Jones. Joey’s shot put toss of 40′ 1.5″ placed him 2nd out of 22 throwers in the Lincoln Trail Conference’s Indoor Meet at Knox College. His total was just two inches away from claiming the top spot overall.

Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman girls track and field athlete, Sadie Lenz. Sadie has gotten off to a great start this season with three, top-5 finishes in her opening meet of her high school career. She placed 5th in the 200 and 400 meter races and was 1st in the triple jump at the Lincoln Trail Conference Indoor Meet at Knox College.

Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior track and field athlete, Jay Allbright. Jay picked up where he left off in a successful football season with a great start to his track season with a 5th place finish in the 200 meter dash and an 8th in the 55 meter race at the Steve Coffman Invite at Knox College.

Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore track and field athlete, Tegan Rehn. Tegan has been fantastic in her first three indoor meets, getting 2nd place finishes in all three in the 60 meter hurdle events. She’s also been a part of a few successful relay teams along the way as well.

Congrats to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors, MC Sport and More, McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank, Yemm Chevrolet Buick GMC Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram!!
