Monmouth College Football To Fan Out For Cleanup Day on April 28th

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Now in its 10th consecutive year, the Monmouth College football team’s annual Spring Cleanup Day is slated for 8 a.m. until noon on Sat. April 28.

The event provides area residents with a chance to have the Fighting Scots football team help them with household spring cleaning chores. The assistance is free of charge and will be available only to residents within the Monmouth city limits.

“Now that it looks like the weather has finally turned, we’ll be able to get out into the community and help them with their spring cleaning chores,” said head coach Chad Braun. “I encourage anyone needing help to contact Coach (Joe) Freitag immediately. The demand for help has been so great, we quickly run out of manpower, even with more than 100 student-athletes on the team.”

Requests for assistance will be on a first-come, first-served basis until all the available slots are filled. The squad will perform whatever spring cleaning projects the residents may have, but residents will be required to supply the necessary tools and cleaning supplies. Team members will haul trash curbside for the usual garbage collection, but will not transport it to any waste collection site.

Residents wanting the team’s assistance with their spring cleanup should contact assistant coach Joe Freitag by April 25 by calling 309-457-2175 or e-mailing Freitag at jfreitag@monmouthcollege.edu and put “Cleanup Day” in the subject line of the e-mail. Requests should include the name of the person making the request, the address of the cleanup location, a telephone contact number and a brief description of the cleanup job. An appropriate number of players will then be assigned to each job.
