Test Run Prepping MC Choir for Carnegie Hall

The Monmouth College Chorus will perform at Central Congregational Church in Galesburg with the doors opening at 7:00 p.m., and the performance beginning at 7:30 this Saturday. The Galesburg Community Chorus and members of the Monmouth-Roseville High School Choir will also be performing. Will Best, a sophomore at Monmouth College, says this is just a warm-up for the group:

“We do a concert locally whenever we do a trip. Last year, we got to go to Florida, and we did a run-through concert of our piece at the same church last year. This will be the same case. We’ll be singing two of our pieces that we’ll be singing in New York at Carnegie Hall this coming May,” he said.

Tickets to the event Saturday are $10, and will help fund the cost of a trip to Carnegie Hall to perform on May 20. Senior Thomas Burkhead listed the numerous fundraisers, such as car washes, trivia nights, and spaghetti dinners to get to this point, but no matter how much he prepares, he still thinks he’ll be nervous on May 20.

“This is where all the great singers and musicians hope to perform at at some point in their life, so that’s a lot of pressure,” Burkhead stated.

To purchase tickets, contact the Department’s Director Dr. Tim Pahel.
