Crimestoppers Continues to Prevail in Warren County

Share

The Warren County Crimestoppers is an anonymous tip-based program that rewards citizens for assisting in solving crimes. The organization has been doing its job effectively according to P.J. Brooks, who provided some statistics regarding the program since its inception in the county in 1990.

“Recovery of property to date, we have recovered $58,000; narcotics was $117,000; we’ve had about 252 code numbers paid out; awards that have been paid out is $43,545,” Brooks said.

When a tipster calls the hotline, their identity remains anonymous, and they are assigned a Crimestoppers number. If the tip leads to an arrest, an award is paid out between $100 and $1,000.

Since 1986, the year Crimestoppers was started in Illinois, the state has paid out over $7 million dollars in reward money.

If you have information about a local crime, call Warren County Crimestoppers at 734-9363.
