Dunn Hopes for 1,000+ Runners at Run Galesburg Run

Dave Dunn, owner of Dave’s Auto Body in Galesburg, is in charge of the annual Run Galesburg Run event. Starting in downtown Galesburg, three different types of races will be held on June 3: the Cottage Hospital Half Marathon, the Cottage Hospital 5K Run/Walk, and the Dave’s Auto Body Gator Fun Run/Walk. Registration will start at 6:00 a.m. followed by races starting at 7. A great turnout is the norm for the event according to Dunn. He would like to see 1,000 runners in 2018.

“I think last year we were at 774 that crossed, so we would like to hit the 1,000 mark. It doesn’t look like we’re going to do it this year because we started out a little bit behind,” he said.

After the three races are complete, an after party beer tent will be set up for racers to indulge in. Food and drinks will be catered by Acapulco Restaurant and Coney Island Hot Dogs. Awards will then be handed out to the top competitors in the races.

On top of having many runners, Run Galesburg Run also needs many volunteers for the races to go smoothly. Regardless of whether you’re running or assisting, Dunn encourages people to come take part in this exciting Sunday:

“Just go to the website at rungalesburgrun.com and sign up either as a volunteer or a participant, and I promise you’ll have a great time, and stick around for the after party,” Dunn stated.
