Former Walmart to House Four New Retailers in Galesburg

Ken Springer with the Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development shared some exciting news regarding the state of what was formerly Walmart on South Henderson St. in Galesburg:

“The big news of last week was the official announcement of the Galesburg Crossings Development; that is the rehabilitation of the former Walmart on South Henderson. Four tenants have been announced for that project; Marshall’s, PetSmart, Harbor Freight Tools, and Five Below are all going to be a part of that,” Springer stated.

The project has been in the works since 2016 according to Springer. The continued growth and expansion of Galesburg’s economy has KCAP excited for the future.

“Those vacant structures can be such an eye sore, so anytime you can put them back into productive use and bring in new retailers to the community, it’s a win-win,” Springer said.

Along with the resurrection of the former Walmart, two other businesses were introduced in Galesburg this week: Jupiter Machine Tool, an engineering support company, and TLC Cleaning, an office-cleaning business.
