Baseball

The Knoxville Blue Bullet baseball team got a big win over highly state-ranked Rock Island Alleman last night 5-2. Noah Harlan’s 2-run double highlighted a 5-run 3rd inning for the Bullets. That’s all the runs Cal Engebretson would need to get the pitching win. Engebretson went 6.1 innings, scattering five hits, giving up only one earned run. He struck out four batters and only walked one. Once Engebretson reached his IHSA-mandated pitch limit, Riley Jennings came on to get the final two outs and the save in the ballgame. Knoxville is now (14-8) on the season.

The A-Town Tornadoes were also victorious last night as they earned a 10-0 road win at Lewistown in a game between Prairieland Conference teams. The game was played as a non-conference affair. Graham Struhs and Jacob Repp each had a pair of hits for the Tornadoes. Struhs and Kaden Jones combined for the 1-hit shutout. A-Town is now (16-5) on the season.

Softball

The A-Town Tornadoes and Knoxville Blue Bullets played a non-conference contest in Abingdon. A-Town’s Courtney Moore walked the game off with a 2-out single in the bottom of the 10th inning for an exciting 3-2 win. Kayleigh Sebben scored the winning run after getting the rally started with a single herself. Morgan Patrick led the Lady Tornado offense, going 3-for-5. Tori Adolphson gets the win going all 10 innings, giving up six hits and no earned runs with 15 strikeouts. Lauren Kavanaugh is the hard-luck loser in the circle for Knoxville. Kavanaugh went the distance as well, giving up seven hits, one earned run with 10 strikeouts. Kavanaugh, Kayden Mines and Lindsey Lester each had a pair of hits for the Blue Bullets.

The West Central Heat softball team played a double header against state-ranked Rockridge in Taylor Ridge. The Heat lose game one 13-2. Macy Benge went 2-for-3 for West Central in that one. Rockridge wins game two as well, 10-3. Reagan Spence was 2-for-3 for the Heat in the nightcap.
