Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for May 4th, 2018

Baseball

The A-Town Tornadoes hosted Orion for a non-conference matchup in Abingdon. The Tornadoes fall to the Chargers 10-9. Despite the loss, Ryan Adolphson and Nick Inness had nice days at the plate for A-Town. Adolphson went 3-for-5, scoring a pair of runs. Inness homered and went 2-for-3, also knocking in three runs. Dylan Klockenga also went deep for the Tornadoes, now (16-6) on the season.

BPC/WP lost to North Fulton in Prairieland Conference action. The Sparclones came back late in the game from a 5-1 deficit but eventually fell 5-4. Calvin Kerfoot led the ‘Clones with a 1-for-2, 2-rbi day.

Ridgewood beat Stark County 11-8 in the Lincoln Trail Conference. Briar Greenman led the way offensively for the winning Spartans. Greenman, who just recently announced that he would play college basketball at Monmouth College, went 3-for-4 with three rbis. He also doubled and tripled in the game as well.

Softball

The Galesburg Silver Streaks lost to Peoria Notre Dame 9-6. Alyssa Villareal and Lauren Campbell each went 2-for-4 for Galesburg. Bailee Hamilton blasted a home run in the game as well for the Silver Streaks.

Like the baseball team, the Ridgewood softball team beat Stark County 7-0. Carlie Barman was 2-for-5 with an rbi double for Ridgwood. Madi Jones drove in a pair of runs for the Spartans also.

Soccer

The Galesburg Silver Streak girls soccer team was shutout by Macomb, 2-0, in Macomb.
