Madi Schulenberg, Monmouth College Women’s Track and Field

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Making her first trip to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in her final year, Monmouth’s Madi Schulenberg narrowly missed claiming All-American status.
Qualifying for one of the 22 spots in the women’s javelin, Schulenberg was just shy of duplicating her qualifying mark which would have placed her in the top five at the meet held in La Crosse, Wis. The senior was seeded 14th in the event after unleashing a Monmouth record throw of 139′ at the Midwest Conference Outdoor Championships on May 5. Her best effort in Thursday’s opening day of the NCAA meet of 123′ placed her 17th, just 8′ out of a top eight finish that would have earned her All-American status.
The attention for the Fighting Scots now turns to Saturday’s competition when junior John Hintz and senior Dan Evers compete in their signature events on the Championships final day. Hintz, looking for his first All-American honor will compete in the hammer throw at 11 Saturday morning. Evers, the 2018 indoor national champion and five-time All-American in the pole vault, opens his competition at noon.
