Here’s your local high school Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 15th :

Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior track and field athlete, Arika Hofmann. Arika will end her high school career in style as she qualified herself for the IHSA Class 2A State Track and Field Finals. Her time of 2:21.93 in the 800 meter run at the Macomb Sectionals was good enough for 2nd place and she will now run at the 2A Finals in Charleston.

Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior softball player, Janelle King. In her team’s six games in the past week, Janelle was 11-for-19 at the plate with three rbis and scored nine runs. She also had three extra-base hits, including blasting her 2nd home run of the season.

Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman track and field athlete, Sadie Lenz. Sadie will cap off an outstanding freshman outdoor season with a trip to the Class 1A state finals in Charleston. She leaped 33′ 7.5″ to place 2nd in the triple jump competition at the Farmington Sectionals. Sadie also finished 8th in the long jump event as well.

Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is freshman track and field athlete, Emily Wilson. Emily qualified for the IHSA Class 1A State Finals in her first attempt as a high school student. Her discus toss of 103′ was good enough to get her a second place finish at the Farmington Sectionals. Emily will now throw the discus at the state finals in Charleston, Illinois.

Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior track and field athlete, Deante Pulley. Deante is the Western Big Six Conference champion in the triple jump event. His leap of 42′ 10.5″ was a foot and a half farther than his nearest competitor. He was also the 2nd place long jumper in the WB6.
