ISP FATAL TRAFFIC CRASH ALERT
The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 14
WHAT:FATAL CRASH
WHERE: 270th Avenue, westbound, at IL Route 94, Warren County
WHEN: 3:28 PM
VEHICLES: Unit 1—2015 Nissan Altima
Unit 2—2001 Ford Taurus
DRIVERS: Unit 1 – Miriam Temple (deceased), 84 years of age, Cedar Falls, Iowa
Unit 2 – Robert Gates, 29 years of age, Aledo, Illinois
PASSENGERS: Unit 1 – Thoburn Thompson (deceased), 86 years of age, Cedar Falls
Unit 2 – Cindel Campbell, 32 years of age, Aledo – Jack Diephuis, 62 years of age, Aledo
PRELIMINARY: Unit 1 was traveling westbound on 270th Avenue (also known as the Woodvale Blacktop). Unit 2 was traveling northbound on IL 135/94. Unit 1 stopped at a stop sign at IL 135/94, but failed to yield to Unit 2. Unit 2 struck Unit 1 in the driver’s door. The driver of Unit 1 was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger from Unit 1 succumbed to injuries at OSF Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. The driver of Unit 2 was hospitalized at OSF Hospital in Peoria with non-life threatening injuries. The passengers from Unit 2 were treated and released from OSF Hospital in Monmouth.
ASSISTING AGENCIES: GHAS, Alexis Ambulance, Little York Fire, Alexis Fire, Monmouth Fire, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Warren County Coroner’s Office, IDOT, OSF Life Flight, Peoria County Coroner’s Office.
CHARGES: No charges.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
