Myers, named an All-American by the American Baseball Coaches’ Association and D3baselball.com, signed last month with the Alpine Cowboys based in Alpine, Texas. The slugging outfielder was also named the ABCA Central Region Player of the Year and led Monmouth with a .453 batting average, .767 slugging percentage, 54 RBIS and 10 homeruns – all career highs. Through 10 games this season, Myers has posted a .280 batting average with four RBIs. The Cowboys play in the 12-team Pecos League.
Stevenson, who posted a career-low 4.44 ERA in 2017 to earn the Fighting Scots Comeback Player of the Year award, inked a deal last week with the Puerto Rico Islanders of the Empire League. A right-handed pitcher, Stevenson posted a career-best 5-4 record last season as Monmouth won their first conference title in 16 seasons. The Islanders begin their season Wednesday.
Both Myers and Stevenson will wear the No. 23 jersey for their respective teams – the same number Stevenson wore as a Fighting Scot.
