Warren County YMCA News Update

The 15th Annual slow-pitch softball tournament, put on by the Warren County YMCA, will be held over the weekend at Monmouth Park. The event helps support the Kids Need Heroes Program at the YMCA and Tom Glenn, Adult Sports Program Director, shares details about the program:

“Kids need heroes is a program where kids that cannot financially afford programs or a membership, it helps to subsidize their membership,” states Glenn.

The state track meet for the 50th Anniversary of Special Olympics was held June 13-15 in Bloomington, IL. Our area took 35 athletes and were fortunate enough to bring back medals and lots of smiles.

In other exciting news regarding Special Olympics, Tom Glenn, Special Olympics Athletic Director, shared Sam Patrousky will be competing in the USA Special Olympic Games in Seattle. She will be competing in the 100m dash, running long jump, the 4x100m relay, and the mini javelin throw.

Congratulations to all the athletes on a successful season and good luck to Sam in Seattle.

Another event coming up soon for the Warren County YMCA is the 80th Annual Old-Timers softball game that will take place Sunday August 12th at the Monmouth Park. The committee is starting to get things together and will be having a meeting Tues June 26th at 7am at the Warren County YMCA. Those who would like to be involved are encouraged to attend the meeting.
