Buchanan Center For The Arts Update

The 37th annual Security Savings Bank Photography Show at the Buchanan Center for the Arts kicks off on Tuesday July 24th. Kristine Gilbert, Executive Director at the Buchanan Center, discusses what the categories are for this years’ show:

“This year we’ve included a couple of new categories as well. We have Agricultural and Farm Life, Animals and Creatures, Capturing Light and Shadows, Faces, Sunrise and Sunset, The Four Seasons, and the David Mace Youth award for 14 to 22 year old’s,” shares Gilbert.

30 artists have entered their artwork and over 100 pieces will be displayed to be seen.

The awards reception for the artists will be Friday July 27th from 5 to 7pm with awards being given at 6pm by Juror Scott Page.

Come check out all the artwork at the Buchanan Center, located at 64 Public Square in Monmouth.

The Buchanan Center for the Arts is hosting an Introduction Drawing and Portrait class on Saturday July 21st from 11 to 1pm. All materials for the class will be provided. Admission for non-members is $15 and is complimentary with a Buchanan Center sustainer level membership.

The Buchanan Center for the Arts has a new opportunity for Kindergarten through 12th grade aged students. The event is called Moon River. Kristine Gilbert, Executive Director at the Buchanan Center, explains the pieces for the contest will be created by listening to the song Moon River.

The deadline for the event is Saturday October 20th. Awards will be given out Saturday November 3rd at 1pm and will then be displayed in the James Keef Gallery.
