IL Breast and Cervical Cancer Program at Knox County Health Department

The Knox County Health Department wants to make residents in Knox, Warren, and Henderson Counties aware of their Breast and Cervical Cancer program. Catherine Ayers, Director of Family Health Services, shares how one is qualified for the program:

“There is an application process, there are some guidelines we must meet. If you are between the ages of 35 to 64, we can help get your cervical cancer screenings, which are very important. There has been a lot of talk about the HPV virus, and so we want to make sure women are getting their tests and screenings. If you are between the ages of 40 and 64 it is recommended to get your breast cancer screenings or your mammograms if you will,” states Ayers.

Ayers cannot stress enough how important it is to get screened and wants to encourage women of all ages to get checked because 1 in 8 women will get cancer in their lifetime.

To see if you qualify to be screened, contact Nicole Brandenburg or Catherine Ayers at 309-344-2224.
