Bingo Night to Help Galesburg Diaper Bank

Share

Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank in Galesburg distributes diapers to local agencies who help families in need. Lee Ann Porter, Founder and Director of Loving Bottoms, came up with the idea in 2014, spent much of the next year researching about diaper banks, before founding the organization in the fall of 2015.

The organization is holding Rock N’ Roll Bingo for Babies this Saturday, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and bingo at 7. Bingo cards will consist of five music genres; a song will then be played and players will fill in their card if one of their songs plays. Porter gave a preview of the prizes that will be awarded.

“We have prizes for the 10 winners. They’re all sort of experience prizes. I’m really big on people going out and doing things in the community, so we’ve got Wildlife Prairie Park tickets, passes to Tanner’s Orchard, the Family Museum … Galesburg Parks & Rec gave us passes for Hawthorne Pool, so we’ve just got 10 different prizes that the winners will win,” she said.

The event will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 1556 E. Fremont St. Since the organization’s founding three years ago, over 145,000 diapers have been distributed. For more information, visit their website at lovingbottoms.org.
