John Cappuccitti, Knox College Women’s Soccer Coach

GALESBURG, Illinois—John Cappucitti joins the Prairie Fire women’s soccer staff after concluding an outstanding collegiate career for the men’s soccer team at Midwest Conference (MWC) rival Lake Forest. He also spent a year at Loyola University in Chicago to begin his collegiate career.

“I am very excited to add John to our staff here at Knox. He is a guy who has a very good knowledge of the game and our conference and his playing resume at both the Division I and Division III levels speaks for itself,” said head coach Chris Haught-Thompson.  “I believe he will be able to hit the ground running and do some great things working with our attacking players.”

Cappuccitti was named the MWC Offensive Player of the Year in 2016 after leading the conference in goals and points per game. He was also named to the All-MWC Men’s Soccer Team twice and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Third Team All-North Region in 2016. John was a team captain during his junior and senior seasons and received the Forester Commitment Award and Lake Forest All-Sportsmanship Team honors during his senior year.

“I’m really happy that head coach Chris Haught-Thompson and Director of Athletics Daniella Irle were willing to bring me in to a program that is going in such a fun direction,” said Cappuccitti. “I’ve seen what their programs have been able to do playing against them and now being a part of the staff will be a great learning experience for me and I can’t wait to get started this weekend.”

Cappuccitti earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Lake Forest in June of 2018. John is a native of Mount Prospect, Illinois.

“We would like to welcome John to Knox College,” said Irle. “Anytime we can bring in a coach with a great background like John’s, it is a win for us.”

Cappuccitti will begin his position immediately with the women’s soccer team reporting on August 18
