Volleyball

The United Red Storm traveled to Macomb for a non-conference matchup with the Bombers. The Red Storm drop the first set 25-22 but came back to win set two, 25-19. The Red Storm led early in set three, 7-6, but Macomb would go on a run in the middle of the set to take a 20-12 lead before putting the match away with a 25-14 win in the finale. United is now (1-2) on the season and won’t get back on the court until going to Southeastern High School next Tuesday night.

The Galeburg Silver Streaks opened up Western Big Six Conference play with a trip to Quincy High School. The Streaks fall 25-21, 25-21 to drop to (1-2) overall on the season. The Blue Devils are 3-time defending conference champions. They tied last season with Moline at (9-1). Leading the way for Galesburg was Kylie Fyke with seven kills and two blocks. Brynn Atwell handed out 12 assists. Sam Rodgers had 19 digs and three service points. The Streaks and Blue Devils split the first two matches of the night. The Streaks won the freshman match 25-19, 16-25, 25-20 and Quincy won the sophomore contest 25-9, 25-14.

The Knoxville Blue Bullets lost at home 25-21, 25-11 to the talented Orion Chargers at Knoxville High School last night. Anna Larson smashed five kills and recorded two blocks. Makayla Benson dished out ten assists and Lindsey Lester and Shelby Shreeves each hustled their way to 12 digs apiece.

Ridgewood lost to Sherrard in three sets, 17-25, 25-22, 25-9 and Rockridge defeats Mercer County 25-17, 25-7.

In the Southeastern Lady Suns Volleyball Classic Tournament, halfway through round robin play, Rushville-Industry, Southeastern, Payson-Seymour and Mendon Unity all improved to (2-0) with victories last night. That tournament wraps up on Saturday with second-round, round-robin play.

Soccer

The Galesburg Silver Streak boys soccer team got their first loss of the season, falling 4-2 to perennial power Peoria Christian. Scoring for the Streaks was Isaiah Mowen and Chris Mboyo. Galesburg is now (4-1) overall on the season.

Tennis

The Galesburg Silver Streak girls tennis team was shutout by Quincy 9-0.

Swimming and Diving

The Galesburg Silver Streak girls swimming and diving team got in the pool for the first time this season with a dual meet at home against Dunlap. The Streaks fall 130-55. Individually for Galesburg, Hayley Cox got the lone win as she touched the wall first in the 100 yard backstroke.
