The Galesburg Parks and Recreation has great family events coming up for all to be involved with. Coming up this Saturday is the Monarch Migration Festival at the Lakeside Nature Center from 10 am until 3. Recreation Supervisor, Chelsea Moberg, shares what to expect if you have never been to the event:

“We have a Monarch area in the back, it’s like a weigh station for them. From 10 until 3 tons of different vendors, and activities. Its family oriented. It’s educational. They will go through the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly. There’s going to be a tag and release program. There will be a butterfly parade. There’s a lot of different stuff to do,” Moberg states.

Also, on Saturday night will be the showing of the movie Coco, which will be at Lakeside as well.

Some other upcoming events include: youth volleyball clinic, learn to swim program at the Hawthorne Pool, and even a trip to Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
