GALESBURG, Illinois — Grow your creative capacity and develop your entrepreneurial instincts at the workshop “Become a Creative Genius (again),” on Wednesday, October 3.
The workshop will take place at 7 p.m. in the Alumni Hall Trustees Room on the Knox College campus and is free and open to the public, though registration is requested. To register, go online to www.knox.edu/nordgren
Presenters will be Knox alumni Carl Nordgren ’73 and his daughter, Krista Anne Nordgren ’12.
Over the last 25 years, Carl Nordgren has founded a half-dozen companies and assisted in the founding of a dozen more. He is the author of five books and taught courses in creativity and entrepreneurship at Duke University for 14 years.
Krista Anne Nordgren is a freelance designer, developer, and owner of The Mothership, a 4,000-square-foot retail shop, coworking, and event space for creatives. She’s partnered with startups, small businesses, and artists to build websites, apps, and immersive technology experiences.
“Become a Creative Genius” is for anyone interested in restoring their natural-born creative genius, from experienced and aspiring entrepreneurs, creative professionals, and software developers to teachers, students, and business managers.
Topics to be covered include:
* how story serves you as the one and only universal knowledge management technology;
* tricks for developing creative perspectives and why we need many; and
* how to get your subconscious mind working for you creatively
The workshop is part of Knox College’s Professionals in Residence Series, which brings alumni from around the world to the Knox campus to share their insights with students and help them discover their passions and launch meaningful careers.
In addition to the October 3 workshop, the Nordgrens will give presentations on “Creativity, Entrepreneurship, and the Liberal Arts,” “Radical Work: How Creatives, Activists, and Humans of All Kinds Can Build a Business,” “How Creative Writing and the Knox Education Influence Career Success,” and “Collaboration, Customers, & Idea Generation” during their residency from October 3-5.
The residency is made possible by StartUp Term, Office of Alumni Relations and Bastian Family Career Center.
