Joey Biel, Monmouth College Football
MONMOUTH, Ill. – It didn’t take Monmouth College’s Joey Biel (Spokane, Wash./Northwest Christian) long to make the national scene, earning a special teams spot on the season’s first D3football.com Team of the Week.
Biel boomed his way into the Monmouth record book in Saturday’s season opener against No. 18 Wheaton. The junior punter averaged 40.0 yards per punt and set the new Scots’ single game punting yardage record totaling 560 yards, thanks in part to a 77-yard bomb that ranks fifth on Monmouth’s all-time longest list. Four of his single game school-record 14 punts landed inside the 20-yard line.
