Three colleges serving Dist. 47 students to see funding for repairs

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. — Sept. 13, 2018 — State Senator Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) is pleased to share that millions of dollars in capital funding have been released to community colleges statewide as part of the Fiscal Year 2019 capital budget. Of those funds, Carl Sandburg College, John Wood Community College, and Spoon River College that serve students in District 47 will see over $320,000 in state funding.

“These funds are necessary for these campuses to move forward with essential repairs and updates,” said Sen. Tracy. “The capital funding was included in this year’s budget and ensures colleges can make the most basic repairs and updates, it’s essential that we continue to recognize such needs and budget accordingly.”

Carl Sandburg College
· Roof Replacement/Reconfiguration | $45,000
· Library Emergency Exit Ramp | $37,500
· Floor Replacement due to 2013 Flooding | $31,900

John Wood Community College
· Building Automation System | $75,770
· Cellular Passive Distributed Antenna System | $30,440

Spoon River College
· Canton Campus Science Lab Modernization | $100,310

“We need a strong, up-to-date infrastructure to attract businesses to Illinois,” said Gov. Bruce Rauner. “The funds we’re releasing are included in the bipartisan budget we signed earlier this year. Every dollar we’re investing in these capital projects helps our communities deliver better service to businesses and residents. That’s how government can play a positive role in the Illinois economy.”
