Galesburg, IL (September 24, 2018) The Galesburg City Council updated the Housing Minimum Standards Codes this past June. These code changes apply to all housing in Galesburg and were enacted to provide better clarification of standards and improve housing safety.

An educational session about the code changes for owner occupied homes will be held Tuesday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. to provide information regarding the updated Housing Minimum Standards Code and its impact on all residential properties in Galesburg. This session will be in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 55 W. Tompkins Street, Galesburg, IL and will last approximately an hour.

Homeowners may view the updated code online by going to the City of Galesburg website home page, click on the “Doing Business” heading at the top, a pop down menu will include “Municipal Code,” click on that. This will go to American Legal Publishing, then click on the blue button which says “View Code.” The Housing Code Minimum Standards are in Sections 150.150 through 150.170.
