This Wednesday, September 19th, in the Pattee Auditorium at the Center for Science and Business at Monmouth College, Lawrence Conrad, with the Upper Mississippi Valley Archaeological Research Foundation, will be giving a talk to discuss different artifacts and history. Conrad shares more details:

“I’m going to be talking about how this collection came to be assembled. It’s a very large collection. It’s not as large say as the one at Dixon Mounds. But in some areas it is stronger than the one at Dixon Mounds. It’s probably the last large collection like this that can ever be assembled because there have been some changes in the laws. A lot of this material was excavated from burials. As you probably know the farming practices have changed, there’s a lot of no till and minimum till. And when you do surveys now you just don’t find the material like you used to. We have been given some large collections. There just are not a lot of private well documented collections out there,” shares Conrad.

Items shown on the display include: spearheads, knives, pottery, and ornaments from 13,000 years of prehistoric culture in the region.

Conrad’s talk will be at 7:30pm on Wednesday September 19th.
