Here’s the WMOI/WRAM/WAIK Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 2nd, 2018:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior golfer, Nick Corman. Nick placed 4th as an individual in the recently completed Mercer County Golden Eagle Invitational at Hawthorn Ridge Golf Course in Aledo. He shot an 18-hole score of 81, which was only 3 shots from placing 2nd overall.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls golfer, Erin Glisan. Erin had a fantastic round of golf in the Mercer County Invitational. Her round of 100 not only placed her 5th overall individually, but helped the Red Storm place 2nd in the team standings. Earlier in the week, she was the co-medalist in a triangular meet with Mercer County and Ridgewood.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Corinne Booton. Corinne led the Heat to a win in their season opener by filling up the stat sheet. Not only did she create havoc at the net with eight kills, she was also force from the service line, earning ten points, with seven of those being aces.

The A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Courtney Moore. Courtney led the Lady Tornadoes in assists in both of their matches last week. She totaled eight helpers in a match against Monmouth-Roseville and then tied for the team lead with four against Knoxville, adding three blocks as well.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week, presented by Toyota, is senior volleyball player, Samantha Rogers. Samantha was named to the Quincy Early Bird All-Tournament team by showing her hustle and determination on the court. She led the Streaks in digs in nearly every one of her team’s five matches, totaling 35 for the day. That effort helped Galesburg placed 3rd as a team in the tournament.

Congrats to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors, MC Sport and More, McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank, Galesburg Toyota!!
