Join us for the 3rd annual Wiswell-Robeson Lecture on “Food and Fuel” featuring Kimberlee K. Kidwell, Dean of the University of Illinois College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.

Nov. 12, 2018 at 7 p.m. in Dahl Chapel and Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public.

KIMBERLEE K. KIDWELL is a nationally respected scholar of plant breeding and genetics and is also the first woman to serve as dean of the University of Illinois College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. An accomplished wheat breeder and geneticist, Dean Kidwell has released more than 20 wheat varieties for commercial production. Her work has addressed questions about gene discovery, genetic characterization and genetic mapping of important traits for wheat improvement. In support of the university’s land-grant mission, Kidwell has cultivated industry partnerships that improve the lives and livelihoods of the residents of Illinois.

The Wiswell-Robeson Lecture is made possible by a gift from Jeanne Gittings Robeson ’60, who operated a farm in Warren County, Illinois, with her late husband, Don Robeson ’54. Featuring an annual speaker, this lecture series explores issues, challenges and innovations in the agricultural industry. It complements other food-related initiatives at Monmouth College: a campus garden and farm; the Global Food Security Triad (an innovative program designed to help students create world change through the study and implementation of continual, reliable access to safe, nutritious and culturally appropriate food); and charter membership in PUSH (Presidents United to Solve Hunger), sponsored by the United Nations.
