Galesburg, IL (October 30, 2018) On Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 11:41 am, Galesburg Police responded to a complaint of a subject trespassing at 255 W. Tompkins Street (Moon Towers) Apt #705. When officers arrived, they met with Knox County Housing Authority employees who advised that Dennis M. Little III, who had been banned from 255 W. Tompkins, was in apartment #705.

Officers knocked on the door of the apartment, and when Little opened it, he was observed to be holding a knife in each hand above his head yelling “suicide by cop”. The door then began to close, and as the officers attempted to keep it open Little began to push on it from the inside.

It was at this time, that one of the officers felt what he first believed to be Little punching him, but realized he was in fact trying to stab him with both knives. The officer then swung his arms in a defensive motion in order to get Little away from him, which he did, and then deployed his Taser, which struck Little.

Little was at this time placed under arrest. He was taken to the Knox County Jail, where he remains at this time pending a first court appearance on Wednesday (10/31/2018) afternoon.
The officer involved suffered no injuries as equipment he was wearing prevented the knives from penetrating.

Dennis M. Little III (DOB: 04/29/1991)
LKA: Homeless

Charges:
Criminal Trespass to Land
Aggravated Battery of a Peace Officer
Felony Possession/Use of a Weapon
Attempted Murder
