Galesburg Civic Art Center Kicks Off Their Exhibtion Year

The Galesburg Civic Art Center will host an opening reception featuring three Illinois artists, that will kick off their exhibition schedule on February 1, 2019, 5-7pm. “Conspicuous Color,” works by KENT BROADBENT of Annawan and works by ANDREA FERRIGNO of Galesburg, will be on display in the Joanne Goudie Gallery February 1 – March 2. In the Blick Gallery, Jelena Todorovich, of Chicago, will share her work, also through March 2. Live music will be provided by Sullivan’s Daughter. Admission is FREE, the public is welcome.

“We wanted to kick off our exhibition year exploring color, and both Kent and Andrea use color to solicit different feelings and reactions, interacting with the viewer,” says Tuesday Çetin, Executive Director, “you will see color as a recurring theme throughout our exhibition schedule this year.”

Andrea Ferrigno earned her MFA in Painting/Drawing/Printmaking at the University of Iowa – Iowa City, and is an Assistant Professor of Art at Knox College. She has had numerous solo exhibitions in Illinois and Iowa, including Caylus, France, and group exhibitions throughout the United States.

Kent Broadbent studied painting and sculpture at Illinois State University – Normal, figure drawing at Augustana College in Rock Island, and has had additional professional training in cold wax and oil painting during Shag Rag Alley and Shake Rag Alley Workshops. He has shown his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the area.
