MONMOUTH, Ill. – A record-setting week has netted Monmouth College’s Will Carius (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) the NCAA Division III Player of the Week award from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USWBA).

Already honored this week as the Midwest Conference Men’s Basketball Performer of the Week and named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, Carius added the USWBA award Tuesday afternoon. The 6-7 junior forward broke the Fighting Scots’ single-game scoring record last week on the way to averaging 45 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in two contests. He opened the week with a record-setting 62 points against Grinnell and then poured in 28 on Saturday at Lawrence. Carius also controlled the glass against Grinnell, pulling down 18 rebounds, 17 on the defensive end, to help the Scots hold the Pioneers to their lowest point total of the season. Carius has scored in double figures in 12 of his 13 games this season and has five double-doubles.
