Cynthia L. Lewis, 61, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 10:48 am, Thursday, April 11, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.

She was born July 7, 1957 in Monmouth IL the daughter of David and Martha (Pullen) Lantz.  She was raised and educated in Monmouth attending Monmouth High School.  She later received her Agriculture Associate Degree from Carl Sandburg College.

Cindy married Marvin Lewis in Monmouth on September 15, 1976 and he died December 11, 2014.

She worked for Dekalb as a sorter and supervisor of de-tasseling crews for 6 years before retiring in 1986. 

Cindy loved knitting, crochet, needlepoint, reading, sewing baby blankets and items for Monmouth Nursing Home residents, and baking anything and everything. She also loved caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Cindy is survived by her son Josh (Heather) Lewis of Milan, IL, one daughter Tanya (Josh) Johnson of Monmouth, eight grandchildren; Brendan (Kelsey) Lewis, Jackson Lewis, Kori (Zack) Schoeve, Tayler Rockwell, Brianna Pierce, Erin (Denver) Strange, Alex Fett, and Michael Johnson, and great grandchildren; Peighton Strange, Xander Strange, Klaryssa Pierce, Tucker Lewis, Zoey Lewis and Bennett Schoeve; her father, David Lantz of Monmouth; step-father, Donald Toland of Monmouth;  sister, Laura (Jake) Armstrong of Monmouth; brothers, Chris Lantz, Robert (Aaran) Lantz both of Monmouth and David (Sherry) Lantz, Jr. of Sunrise Beach, MO; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and husband.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Cremation will take place following the gathering.  Memorials may be given to the Illinois Cancer Care.
