Edwin Hick, 93, of Galesburg, died at 11:17 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born November 8, 1925, in Farmington, the son of Edwin and Bernice (Goliday) Hick. He married Juanita L. Harris on September 4, 1949, in Farmington. She preceded him in death March 15, 2013.

He is survived by a son, Robert (Nancy) Hick of Galesburg; a daughter, Cathy (Steve) Hawkinson of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Hayley (Ryan) Painter and Kelly Hawkinson; two great grandchildren, James and Claire; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dick and Ronald.

Edwin was raised and educated in Farmington. In 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. He was discharged in 1946, at which time he enrolled at Bradley University, graduating in 1949.

He began his working career in Wisconsin in retail, but moved to Galesburg in 1952. He worked for Galesburg First National Bank for 35 years, retiring in 1990 as vice president in commercial lending. During his working career, he served as treasurer of the American Red Cross, was on the board of directors of the Knox County United Way, and was a Boy Scout leader. He also was a long-time member of the YMCA, where he served on the board and was involved in coaching.

Edwin was a member of the Alpha Masonic Lodge and the Peoria Consistory.

Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tom Ek officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Knox County YMCA. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
