Arlene J. Golightly, 76, of Galesburg, died at 6:32 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 in Marigold Health Care Center.

Arlene was born May 3, 1942 in Peoria, the daughter of Arthur and Florence (Domer) Grabill.  She married George E. Golightly in 1977 in Maquon.  He preceded her in death January 19, 2015.

She is survived by a son, Brian (and Toni) Jurgensen; a daughter, Valarie (and Kevin) Frett; a stepson, Jeff (and Angie) Golightly; two stepdaughters, Jackie Golightly and Jennifer Kowalewski; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her “almost” children, Bill Roberts, Doug and Ruth Knott; and a special niece and nephew, Mary and Greg Kennedy.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father; her mother; her stepfather, Bernard Bright; two brothers; and a sister.

Arlene graduated from Valley High School in 1960.  She worked at the Knox County Council for Developmentally Disabled for three years before becoming a Special Aide Attendant for School District #205.  She was a member of the Maquon United Methodist Church.

Cremation will be accorded.  No visitation or service is planned.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus, Guardian Angels Humane Society, or the Knox County Humane Society.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
