Beginning/Intermediate ESL Course at Sandburg This Summer

GALESBURG — Carl Sandburg College’s Corporate and Leisure College is offering an English as a Second Language (ESL) course during the 2019 summer session.

The class will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from June10-July 31 on Sandburg’s Main Campus in Galesburg, 2400 Tom L. Wilson Blvd. This is a beginning/intermediate-level course for adults whose native language is not English.

Students will be given instruction and practice in speaking, writing and reading in English on a variety of topics. Topics covered will include:

  • Housing — renting and buying
  • Health — medical forms, insurance and questions to ask
  • Employment — applications, resumes and interviews
  • Transportation — commuting in town and traveling

Cost of the class is $50. Preregistration is required, and early enrollment is preferred to ensure minimum enrollment numbers are met in order to avoid unnecessary class cancellation.

The instructor for the class is Jessica Jones, who has more than 10 years of teaching experience. She is employed as an ESL teacher and has worked as an adult ESL volunteer.
