Brenda J. Whitmore, age 53, of Atkinson, Illinois, passed away at 2:38
P.M. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in
Peoria, Illinois. She was born on September 11, 1965 in Burlington,
Iowa, the daughter of Richard Earl and Evelyn Aretha (Bauer) Whitmore.
Brenda was raised in Oquawka, Illinois where she attended local schools.
She first worked at Hamilton Grocery with Kent Hamilton in Oquawka, then
at LaMont Limited in Burlington, Iowa and also at Lowe’s in Burlington.
Brenda was a fan of Elvis Presley, and she loved to play games and
posting on Facebook. She very much loved her dogs and “Goldie”. Brenda
is survived by two sisters; Patricia “Pat” (Gary) Andrews of Atkinson,
Illinois and Connie (John) Spiker of Oquawka, Illinois, two brothers;
Gerald (Gayle) Whitmore of Galesburg, Illinois and Michael Whitmore of
New London, Iowa. There are eight nieces and nephews, six great nieces
and nephews, and one great-great nephew also surviving. She is preceded
in death by her parents.

A graveside service is planned for 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 18, 2019
at the Oquawka Cemetery in Oquawka, Illinois. A memorial fund is being
established for the Henderson County Humane Society. No visitation is
planned. Arrangements are being made through Turnbull Funeral Home in
