Jacqueline “Jackie” Marie McGinnis Shoemaker, of Lincoln, formerly of Monmouth IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Vonderleith Retirement Center, with her family by her side.
She was born January 1, 1928, in Monmouth, to Harold McGinnis and Mary Belle Canan McGinnis Kissinger. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Nancy Cavanaugh.
Jackie was a 1945 graduate of Monmouth High School and a 1949 graduate of
Monmouth College. She was a member of
Phi Beta Phi and PEO. She married Homer
Lee “Red” Shoemaker in 1950. She and Red
lived in Colorado for many years before moving back to Monmouth where they called
home. Jackie always said, “That All
Roads Lead to Monmouth”. Jackie was a
School Teacher in Littleton Colorado & Monmouth Illinois for many years and
later served as Receptionist for her husband’s CPA practice and worked as a
full-time mother. Jackie & Red loved
visiting Estes Park Colorado where they met and had spent many wonderful
years.
Jackie will be greatly missed by her family, daughter, Holly Lee Yocum (Jerry)
of Adair IL and, Son, Steven John Shoemaker (Lanita Jo) of Lincoln, IL,
granddaughter, Cassandra Jo Rosalez (Josh) of Bloomington, IL and loving sister
Francis Kissinger Toal of Davenport, IA and her many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday, May 13, 2019 at McGuire & Davies
Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.
Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Friends may call from 9:00-10:00 am Monday
morning. Memorial contributions may be made to Baby Fold, Safe Haven Hospice
