Kyle E. Terpening

Kyle E. Terpening, age 96, of Monmouth, passed away at 2:09 pm on April
25, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. Kyle was
born on January 18, 1923 in rural Coldbrook, Illinois and is the son of
Wilbur and Mabel Swagert Terpening. He was raised in rural Coldbrook
where he attended country school and attended and graduated from
Galesburg High School with the class of 1941. Kyle married Dorothy L.
Johnson on December 6, 1945 in Monmouth, Illinois and she preceded him
in death on July 31, 2007. Kyle has been a farmer in Warren County for
his entire career in grain and livestock. He also was a seed dealer for
several companies over the many years. Kyle is a long-time member of
First Lutheran Church and has served on it’s church board in prior
years. He has also service on the board of the Warren County Farm Bureau
and the check off board of the Illinois Soybean Association. Kyle won
the F S yield contest in 1974 and was an honorary member of FFA. Kyle
owned both John Deere and Allis Chalmers equipment over the years and
was a member of the Maple City Antique Tractor Association.
Surviving are two sons, Kevin and Nancy Terpening of Knoxville, Illinois
and Dennis and Becky Terpening of Kirkwood, Illinois. There are seven
grandchildren, Karl Terpening, and Paul (Kaylin) Terpening, Eric (Mary
CChely) Terpening, Beth Terpening, Carman (Gerald) Williams, Georgia
Caulkins and Rocky Caulkins. One great grandson, Blake Caulkins and
three great granddaughters, Callie Caulkins, Maci Caulkins, and Karley
Williams are all surviving.
He is preceded in his death by his parents and his wife.

A funeral service is planned at 10:30 am on Thursday May 2, 2019 at
First Lutheran Church in Monmouth, Illinois. His interment will be in
Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. His family plans visitation and
will receive their friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday evening
at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth, Illinois. A memorial fund is being
established for First Lutheran Church in Monmouth. To leave a
