Lydia Frances Swearingen, 78, of Galesburg, formerly of Abingdon, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 3:35 p.m. at home.
Lydia was born November 30, 1940 in Ethel, MO the daughter of Brown Alfred and Dearie Mae (Kelley) Biswell. She married Earl Junior Swearingen on August 19, 1961 in Memphis, MO. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1994. Lydia is survived by one son, Ed (Belinda) Swearingen of Abingdon; four daughters, Lecia (Rick Anderson) Simpson of Altona, Terri Swearingen and Jenny Hyman both of Galesburg, and Karla (Ron) Ward of Wataga; one son in law, Bob Mattson of Lomax; one sister, Doris Berry of Kirkwood, MO; and one sister in law, Patricia Biswell of Macon, MO. Lydia is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Noah Ward, Nolan Ward, Heaven Reynolds, Jenna Swearingen, Tony Batson, Jamie Swearingen, Holly Hardy, Tristan Simpson, Christopher Simpson, Beau Aplin, and Nikki Ginther; nine great grandchildren; and her cat, Addie. Along with her husband and parents, Lydia was preceded in death by one daughter, Luann Mattson; two brothers; and six sisters.
Lydia enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She also loved to go hunting for four leaf clovers and playing cards.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Private family services will be held in July with burial of cremated remains in Belmont Cemetery, Bald Bluff, IL. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
