Mary M. Wentzel, age 83, of Victoria, Illinois, died at 11:45 P.M. on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at the OSF Saint Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born in Iowa City, Iowa on January 26, 1936, the daughter of Fred and Irene (Chatterton) Hoenes. On July 29, 1977, Mary was married to Robert E. Wentzel in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert E. Wentzel of Victoria; two daughters: Karen C. Pollard of Houston, Texas, Cindy Ann Krumm of Victoria; two grandchildren: Garry W. Pollard of Texas, Carry W. Pollard of Irving, Texas; two great-grandchildren: Cory and Cody Pollard of Irving, Texas; and three siblings: Florence Shaffer of Plano, Texas, Wilma Hoenes of Plano, Texas, Karl Hoenes of Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Tom Hoenes; and one son, Varnum Krumm, Jr.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #285 in Galesburg. She loved horseback riding and knitting, especially afghans.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center in Knoxville, Illinois. A memorial service will directly follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center in Knoxville, Pam Corbin and Chaplin Janet Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary #285. Online condolences and expressions of sympathy can be made through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com
