Robert R. “Bob” Richardson, 87, of Moline, Illinois, formerly of Galesburg, Illinois died at 5:15 a.m. Monday April 22, 2019, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

He was born July 18, 1931, in Plainfield, New Jersey, the son of Roscoe and Mildred (McCoy) Richardson.  He married Joanne Long on October 24, 1962, in Rock Island.  She preceded him in death March 14, 1981.  He later married Mary McGeehon on April 8, 1998 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on January 27, 2001.

He is survived by three daughters, Annette (and Wayne) Jones of Alexis, Illinois, Regina Ladwick of Tennessee, and Leslie (and David) Simmons of Moline, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a half brother, James (and Trudy) Turner of Knoxville, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Tony Dennis, a daughter, Ricki Hiatt and a brother, Jack Richardson. 

Bob graduated from Galesburg High School in 1950 and attended Knox College.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He worked at Jefferson Smurfit for 36 years, retiring in 1994.  He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.  He enjoyed Shakespeare plays and crossword puzzles.  He also raised tropical fish, especially Beta’s. 

Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel.  Visitation will be 12:00 Noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the chapel.  Rev. John Carlson will officiate.  Burial will follow in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
