MONMOUTH, Ill. – For the second time in as many years, the Monmouth College baseball team has landed two players on an All-Region team. D3baseball.com today named seniors Alex Sheetz (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) and Tyler McDonald (Tremont, Ill./Tremont) to its All-Central Region team.

A side-arming reliever, Sheetz was named to the second team after appearing in 18 games this season out of the bullpen and posting a 3-1 record. The senior right-hander led the team with a 0.84 ERA and six saves. Sheetz fanned 25 batters in 21-1/3 innings and held opponents to a .128 average, lowest on the team among pitchers with more than two innings under their belt.

The business major is the son of Kimla Mason and Roger Sheetz.

McDonald, who started a team-high 10 games, claimed third-team honors while closing his career with 242 strikeouts, the second-most in Fighting Scots history. The senior righty ended his final season with a 2.54 ERA, a .180 opponent batting average and 82 strikeouts, all tops among the starters. McDonald ends his career with 40 starts, tying for No. 2 on the all-time list with Monmouth Hall of Famer Arnie Gonzalez.

A business and economics major, he is the son of Marlon and Sheryl McDonald.

The all-region honors were the first for both Sheetz and McDonald.
