United School District Update

The United School Board met last week for their monthly meeting. The board appointed Aaron Leary to fill the rest of a two year term after Andy Davis resigned earlier this year.

In other meeting news, Superintendent Jeff Whitsitt proposed an amended budget:

“When we did our original budget last fall, we had not issued bonds or approved any of our life safety work and since then we have issued bonds and approved life safety work. So we are going to have to amend our budget this month. I proposed a tentative budget as to what it is going to look like. It is going to look a lot different than it did in September when we approved the original budget. It is all pretty much because of the projects we have going on, the bus barn construction and life safety work we are doing. It’s all accounted for and all within reason and range. It’s just something that we have to do. Our budget has to look like something we are going to spend,” states Whitsitt.

United will host their graduation on Sunday May 19th at 3pm in the High School Fieldhouse.
