Carl Sandburg College will be hosting their annual Summer Youth Program with various sports camps being held throughout the summer.
The sports children can participate in are Cross Country from June 3rd to the 6th , Basketball from June 17th to the 20th, Volleyball from June 23rd to the 27th, Softball from July 22nd to the 25th, and Soccer from August 3rd to the 4th. The camp is open to students ages five to 17 and Carl Sandburg coaches and players will assist the camps.
Stacy Rucker, Director of Corporate and Leisure at the College, told us the price to attend the camps as well as a special incentive for students who participate:
“They range anywhere, in price, from $35 to $50, and each student that participates does get a T-shirt with that price.”

The Carl Sandburg Summer Youth Program will also be taking a trip to Clinton, Iowa on May 18 to Havencrest Castle. The trip is open to the public and all ages. Stacy Rucker, Director of Corporate and Leisure at Carl Sandburg College, why she selected Havencrest Castle as a day trip location:
i looked at it before the past few years when i was looking for day trip ideas and it has been closed several years to the public. But just recently, last fall, the owner decided to have tours again, and it went over so well, he saw over 2,000 visitors, that he decided to open it again in May and share it with the public. It’s a rare opportunity, and we’re pleased that we have a chance to go and see the castle.”
