Carol F. “C P” Pullen, age 87, of Monmouth, Illinois; passed away at
2:58 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in
Galesburg, Illinois. Carol was born on August 17, 1931 in Arcola,
Illinois, and is the son of Harvey W. and Myrtle Alice (Hood) Pullen.

“C P” attended schools in Arcola, and graduated from Arcola High School.
He then attended Eastern Illinois University where he obtained a
Bachelors degree in Education. He later received his Masters in Physical
Education from the University of Illinois in Campaign, Illinois. Carol
married Rosemary McVey on August 12, 1979  at their home in Monmouth,
Illinois and she is surviving. Carol was previously married to Jane Jones.

“C P” began his teaching career with the Bureau County Township High
School in Princeton, Illinois, after which he entered and served in the
United States Army in the Panama Canal Zone. Following service he taught
physical education at the Robinson, Illinois junior high school, and
then taught at United Township High School in East Moline.”C P” then
came to Monmouth and during his time at Monmouth High School taught
Physical Education along with Driver Education and coached track, cross
country, and various other sports. “C P” was a long time member of the
Lions Evening Lions Club and the First Christian Church in Monmouth,
Illinois. He was a member of the Track and Cross Country Coaches
Association and was inducted into it’s Hall of Fame. He also instituted
the Warren County Prime Beef Run and was active with it to the present.
“C P” just loved to run!

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Pullen of Monmouth, Illinois; two
sons, Philip Pullen (Tiffany) of Peoria, Illinois and Gary Pullen
(Denise) of Monmouth, Illinois; and one daughter, Michelle Pullen of
Milan, Illinois. There are five grandchildren and three great
grandchildren, and one sister, Doris “Dory” Edward of Arcola, Illinois
surviving. Preceding him in death are his parents and eleven brothers
and sisters.

A funeral service for Carol F. Pullen will be held at 11:00 AM on
Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at First Christian Church in Monmouth,
Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 25, 2019
at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Interment with military honors
will be at the Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood, Illinois following
Wednesday’s service. A memorial fund in being established for the
Monmouth/Roseville Educational Foundation or First Christian Church of
