Gabriel Arteaga, 68, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 7:30 am, Friday, June 21, 2019 at his home.
He was born on January 20, 1951 in Aguazarca, Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Jose Arteaga and Maria Auxelio Arteaga Rosales. He was raised and educated in Aguazarca, Jalisco, MX.
Gabriel married Olga Bugarin in Temastian, Jalisco, Mexico in 1979 and she survives.
Gabriel worked at Farmland Foods in Monmouth for 25 years.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth. He enjoyed BBQ, grilling out with family, gardening, singing, making people laugh, visiting with family and friends and spending winters in Mexico.
Survivors include his wife Olga Arteaga of Monmouth; his son, Sergio Arteaga of Monmouth; his daughters, Veronica (Eddie) De La Cruz of Monmouth, IL and Angelica Arteaga of Chicago, IL; his granddaughter, Natalie De La Cruz; 4 brothers, 6 sisters and countless nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Monmouth. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Monmouth. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
