Former Monmouth-Roseville and Galesburg High School assistant football coach, Grant Gullstrand has been hired as the new head coach of the Mid-County Cougar football program. The Mid-County squad is made up of the Galva, Williamsfield and ROWVA school districts. He will also be a PE teacher in the ROWVA school district. Gullstrand was a standout offensive lineman for Mid-County in 2010, making the Illinois High School All-Star Shrine Game following his senior year in the summer of 2011. Gullstrand then spent the next four years playing football at Monmouth College, where he was a standout offensive lineman. He was the Galesburg Silver Streak sophomore head football coach this past school year. Gullstrand will take over a Cougar program coming off a (6-4) season in 2018. The Cougars, under the leadership of Gary Denhart, were knocked out of the playoffs by Poplar Grove North Boone in the first round.
